Spring XC Series #2 - Who Let the Bikes Out

Posted in MTB, Racing, Training on April 23rd, 2010 by Sarns

I know it’s a little late, but the second last Spring Series XC goes tomorrow at Terwillegar Park. Stew went wild with the name, so it’s called “Who Let the Bikes Out.”
Race is at 11:00am with registration going from 9:30 on. It will be $10 and you must be a member of a ABA affiliated club to participate. There will be three groups heading out at either 2,3, or 4 laps, please place yourself accordingly. No sandbagging please.
For a rehash of all that stuff above, check out the poster:

In other news, it raining. But come on, the trails are so dry at worst they will be tacky for the race. So no excuses.
Now Sunday’s race might be a different story.

XC Spring Series # 3 “Hammerfest 2010″

Posted in MTB, Racing, Training on April 20th, 2010 by Sarns

Welcome to the final spring series XC race of the 2010 season. After this, it’s Alberta Cup season, so what better way to re-introduce yourself to all the wonders of racing your bike than to come on down to Terwillegar park on Sunday, April 25th and rip around on a new course. What’s that you say? There’s also a race the day before? Yes, indeed there is, but not to worry, each race will be different and jam-packed with more fun than you can shake a stick at.

The format is pretty standard, 2,3 or 4 laps of a course in the upper treed section of Terwillegar park. You choose which race you want to enter, but know that if you placed in the top three of either the 2- or 3-lap race, you will automatically be upgraded to the next level. Sandbaggers will be mercilessly mocked, and have their tires filled with river water.

Cost? $10 gets you in the race, and stick around afterwards as there will be food for racers and sweet draw prizes from River Valley Cycle. The only catch is that you must be a current member of an Alberta Bicycle Association club. Winners of all categories from the previous Spring Series races get in for free!

Registration is from 9:30 to 10:50 a.m. and the races go off at 11:00 a.m.. Contact River Valley Cycle Racing for more information or go to www.rivervalleycycle.com
